Description

• The Western Isles Development is producing from two oil fields called Harris and Barra in the Northern North Sea, 160km east of the Shetlands and 12km west of Tern field.
• It involves a subsea development of production and water injection wells tied back to a the Western Isles FPSO with oil export using shuttle tankers.

• Sevan Marine: Technology Licence for the cylindrically shaped FPSO
• Subsea 7: Engineering, procurement, construction and installation of two 2.5 kilometer pipeline bundles and a 11 kilometer gas export pipeline

History

• 2012 - Dana Petroleum started the detailed engineering design phase for the project
• 2012 - The Department of Energy and Climate Change has approved the development of the field
• 2013 - Subsea 7 awarded pipeline contract
• 2013 - Dana starts drilling operations
• 2014 - Production wells tested & Export pipeline installed
• 2017 - First oil produced
