Description

  • The Svalin field lies about six kilometres south-west of the Grane Oil Field platform at a water depth of 125 metres.
  • The Svalin development is tied back to the Grane Oil Field platform. Svalin M produces by a well drilled from the Grane platform, while Svalin C is a subsea development with a six-kilometre-long flowline to the Grane platform. The hydrocarbons utilise shared processing and export facilities

Geology

  • There is oil and associated gas in Paleocene to Lower Eocene sandstones in the Heimdal and Balder Formations at a depth of approximately 1 750 metres. The sandstones are deposited as sub-marine fans.
