South Africa Set To Oppose ICC Proposal Of Four-day Test Matches

England and Australia will face opposition from [/news/south_africa/index.html South Africa] if they formally endorse an ICC proposal to make four-day Tests mandatory from 2023. 
An ECB spokeswoman said the governing body were 'definite proponents of the four-day Test concept' last week, but Sportsmail can reveal that Cricket South Africa are opposed to the idea, which will be debated by the ICC's Cricket Committee later this year.
Cricket South Africa fear a move to four-day Tests would make draws more likely, encourage negative tactics and pose a threat to spin bowlers.

South Africa also play fewer Tests than England, so have less need to create space in the calendar.
